  TRAININGS

Training is a practice applied in 1st and 2nd Education Programs in accordance with the Item 21 of the Graduate Education and Training Regulations of Yýldýz Technical University.

Purpose

The purpose is the application of both the theoretical and practical knowledge of the students into practice or strengthening the applications. Practical application should cover all or at least a part of the purposes mentioned here in below.

•  To enable the Mathematical Engineering Student to be introduced to his carrier more closely by directly contact to the various applications of engineering.

•  To enable the conformity of the theoretical knowledge acquired by the student during education to the practice.

•  To guide the investigation of sources and reasons of the difference between the theory and practice.

•  To enable the detailed definition and formulation of a problem related with application in Engineering by determining the factors which effect the problem, the variables and limitations of the problem.

•  To collect the knowledge related with Mathematical Engineering in practice and evaluate the results of the examinations of this knowledge and practical study reports.

•  To initiate for the development of the relations between the application fields of the Department.

Practical Working Period and its Subjects

Total period of training is 60 working days. A week is accepted as 5 days, disregarding if on Saturday is worked or not. The training can be done outside the education and examination period. However, the students who fits to the following conditions could perform their training in education period:

•  Considering (1) working day as (1/2) working day for the students who has at least 3 days free in a week.

•  The students of the II. Education could perform their training in education period, provided that (1) working date is considered as (1/2) working day.

Training Program of the Mathematical Engineering is as follows.

I.GROUP: Computer Equipment and Basic Applications Practice: This training covers the study and basic applications of the computer equipment systems, with the duration of 20 working days or 4 weeks. Performed following the II. term.

II.GROUP: Production Investigation and Planning Practice: This training realizes theoretical and practical (by the aid of computer) approaches to the problems related with production research and planning of the official, semi-official and private organizations.

The duration is 20 working days or 4 weeks. Performed following the IV. term.

III.GROUP: Practical Works Related with Problem Solution Techniques:

Enables the definition, formulation and solution (by the aid of computer) of the problems related with engineering, economics and statistics. The duration is 20 working days or 4 weeks. Performed following the VI. term.

Procurement of the Training Places and its Distribution

The training places are procured by the student from both public and private sector either domestically or from abroad, provided that it is accepted by the Presidency of the University, Dean's Office of the Faculty, Mathematical Engineering Department and training committee. The training will be performed in 3 separate organizations, in 3 periods and duration of each period would be 20 working days. Maximum 2 trainings could be made in the same organization, in case it is approved by the department, provided that the trainings are performed in different years.

The trainings of the students are planned and supervised by the “Department Training Committee”. The members of this committee is nominated by the Board of the Department in the required quantity among the faculty, representing all basic sciences of the Department.

The tasks of this committee are:

•  Distribution of the training places procured by the committee to the students.

•  Designation of the training places, investigation of the new training places and activities for the determination of their conformance to the object.

•  Sending to the training and evaluating the training notebook and sending the result to the presidency of the Department as a report or notifying as a list.

•  To act as a guide for solving the problems which the students might have in training.

•  Fulfilment of the tasks charged by the President of the Department in this respect.

Procurement, Arrangement and Delivery of the Practice Work Notebook

The training notebook is procured from the place specified by the department.

The President of the Department prepares a (single type) letter explaining how the training will be performed, its importance and demanding the supply of the conditions of attendance and working during the training and sends it with training register to the establishment where the training will take place, the trainee will record his activities to the training notebook as it is stipulated in the rules of training regulations of the department as follows:

•  The sections which are specially prepared in the training notebook should be filled completely.

•  The notebook should be filled legibly in accordance with the rules of the Turkish Grammar.
